The Animal In Me

I know, I was just thinking the same exact thing: "It's about time John posted something new!" Hey, it's only been a few months--ha,ha. These four animals and beach ball are going to be part of yet another program cover for the Portsmouth Recreation Department. What's different this time? Usually I depict a bunch of people playing sports. This time it's animals. I know, I'm immeasurably clever. There are going to be seven animals in all. As always the cover will be in color, so don't freak out because these critters are looking a bit pale right now. Stay tuned true believers for more animal antics!

I get the beaver - she's skiing - but what are the bat and turtle up to? You know what would be funny? A turtle on ice skates...ooooh! With a hockey goalie helmet on!

Who said it's a she-beaver Mrs. Chili? Maybe it's a skiing "dude" beaver. I'll give you a hint with the turtle, that's a swim cap he or she is wearing. As for the bat, well, you'll just have to wait and see until the whole piece is completed (by next Monday.) These animals aren't in their final composition, they're just floating in space, placed randomly. When the other 7 animals and background are completed, it will all be as clear as a beaver on skis...

Cute characters with amusing expressions. I like the details, the chewed ski poles are a hoot. The line work is confident and clean.

I think you should add a tail to that beaver. And don't forget to include a variety of angles on the other critters (three quarter views).

Look forward to seeing more!
